The posts on Charlie's Adventures have not been as frequent as I would like them to be. This is the first time this week that I have had a few moments to sit at my computer and gather my thoughts. By the looks of things, I'll be working harder than I have in quite some time over the next week and a half. Here's the scoop. One of the events that I oversee is the Canadian Cancer Society's annual Daffodil Days here in Moncton. Daffodils are know as the flower of hope (more commonly referred to as the flowers from hell by the CCS staff). As with all the events I oversee there are goals that are to be met - $50,000 for this one. I can utilize anyone who willing to volunteer their time. The office assistant, Julie, has been with the cancer society for the past few years and has worked on the daffodil campaign each year and is extremely familiar how everything is done. I have really looked to her for guidance & assistance. We divided up many of the task and she was planning to take care of many key elements. Long story short, Julie had an emergency appendectomy over the weekend and is out of the office for two weeks! Suffice to say, I'm on my own with this event. It is proving to be quite the learning experience. I am confident that my goals will be met - it's just getting thought April 6th that's going to be the trick. I have a massage scheduled for Monday the 7th to help work out the kinks! If there isn't a new post soon, you now know why.

Workin' Hard For The Money

Spring is Here?
It's officially Spring, and yes you've probably guessed it, it's snowing here in Moncton. I'm no longer in denial and have come to grips with where I live and the weather associated with it. On the bright side, by being Canadian (ha!) I got the day off today for Good Friday and Monday off for a nice long Easter weekend. My boss failed to tell me about this until last week (he just assumed everyone knew that we got time off for Easter). Had I know earlier, we would've surely made plans to get away this weekend...I guess now I know better for next year. I hoping this will be a nice relaxing LONG weekend and get some reading in. Yes, I've jumped on the wagon and am reading "A New Earth." The book that Oprah is pimping hard right now...although I haven't gone so far as taking her class that is associated with the book that she is offering on-line. Have a great weekend & Happy Easter (that's for you Willie).

Roll up the Rim to Win
I don't know what it is about Tim Horton's coffee, but it really is a taste of heaven. When that warm coffee hit my lips it gives me a warm feeling all over. I've had the discussion with several people and we're all pretty much in agreement that they put crack (or rock cocaine if you prefer) in the coffee because it's that addicting. What's great is that it isn't super pricey either, so I don't feel at all bad for going there on a semi-regular basis. Now Tim Horton's is giving us even more of an incentive to enjoy their delicious coffee (like I really need one). It's their annual Roll up the Rim to Win. Under the rim of each coffee sold is the chance to win some amazing prizes: cars, boats, GPS navigation systems, gift cards, free coffee & donuts. There is a one in nine chance of winning a prize. I have been lucky enough to win a donut - although I threw the cup away because that's really the last prize I need to claim (donut to the lips goes straight to the hips, so true). Anyway, I was excited when I saw this article in the paper today about the girl picture about who lives here in Moncton that won a car!!! It's a pretty cool little story if you have time, check it out.
I'm thinking I'll win one of the boats...just putting that out there!

Yay 4 Uncle Ray!
Today was yet another snowy, dreary winter day but it was totally brightened when this bouquet of flowers was delivered to my office. It was totally unexpected. The ladies in the office were quite jealous that their significant others aren't quite as thoughtful. I've been complaining quite a bit these past couple of weeks about how much this winter is wearing on me and I know these were to put a smile on my face. Ray is hands down the best boyfriend ever and he has such great taste. Check out the cool vase that he picked out and he requested the pink water, great touch I must say. Mr. & Mrs. Delia sure did a great job with this one!!!

Ray's Report
Well, to say that this is a humbling moment would be an understatement. After six months (and 8 blizzards) in Canada, the beautiful Ville de Dieppe has honoured me with an avenue named in my honour in a new development near our home. Whatta country!!! As you can see, I went on a ride-along with upstart FOX News correspondent and Charlie's Adventures (CA) photographer, umm...Charlie, to confirm the action! Note: a small mountain was climbed to secure this photo opp...for you first time readers, tremendous amounts of snow in these parts! Honestly, I think this blog will ultimately get picked up by weather.com for its meteorological insights!I would have enjoyed "Delia Drive" or "promenade Delia" (French), but I was not consulted on this...I've talked to counsel and was advised to let this slide. My next project will be to land "Logsdon Lane" on the map up here, and I will feel like I will have left our mark on this area! Be sure to stay tuned to Charlie's Adventures as there will be a formal ribbon-cutting with all the trimmings to commemorate "my street" in late-May (weather permitting)...the staff at CA may YouTube this event.
I will try to be more consistent with my "guest posts" in the future as I am getting some heat from the CA publisher about my role in this endeavor. So look for an end of season wrap up & my observations on Year 1 in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League sometime next month. Until then, that's the news and I am outta here!
